The
purpose of this PSA is to make parents and viewers aware of the cyber bullying
issue in today’s society. The targeted audience is mothers of teens and the
technique which is used is emotional appeals. Also, another technique used to
grab viewer’s attention is the silence within and throughout the PSA. No sound
will be used.

I like the fact that you are seeking out mothers specifically. Your hook sounds very, very interesting and I definitely think that it will suck the viewers in by using emotional appeal to get them to read and really think about what you are telling them. I do think that if a mother were to watch this, she would have to be at least a little more conscientious about what her children are doing online. Yours is definitely different than any others that I have read, but I think that it is a good idea, and that it can be very effective. I'm interested to see yours! Good Job so far !
ReplyDeleteI really like your ideas! The progression of facts is logical and attention-grabbing. It's so simple and powerful for you to not have any images, but to only use the text. The facts in your text are clear and concise, and not using any sound
ReplyDeleteis a great technique for making the text more intense. It makes the tone of the PSA very serious and somber. I especially like the question and image at the end, because they emphasize the point you're trying to make and have great emotional appeal. Great job on this. It will be interesting to watch.
I find the lack of sound and focus on visual aspects only very intriguing as a hook. The statistics you cite are good ones for getting the attention of your intended audience. I can imagine the different techniques you will use to accentuate them via text design.

I think choosing to use only a black background with text, and no sound, will have a dramatic effect and will definitely cause your viewer to focus on your message. Cyber bullying is a very serious issue that is sometimes taken too lightly, and I think your PSA will bring to light just how serious it is. I also think appealing to mothers is a good tactic. As a mother myself, just imagining my son as a teenager is scary enough (haha), without all of the worries and dangers that can come with inappropriate online behavior. I believe you will do an excellent job of causing mothers of teens to be more vigilant and active in their children's lives online. Good job!
ReplyDeleteI really like the simplicity of your PSA. I think that is something that will really draw people in, too. I like the black backgrounds and silence, and that the only picture you actually use is at the end. This really does help the strengthen your point. This all helps with your method of using emotional appeals. I like it!
